Girl Groups in America have a rich tradition. From the original Motown sounds of the 1960’s to the Riot Girrl movement of the 1990’s, the female sexual energy, we-against- them passion, and the hard road to fame, have fueled some of Rock & Roll’s greatest and most energetic moments.
It is in this spirit that the germ of the idea of “The Myths” and Girlfriend-ZY was formed. Currently being developed as an off-Broadway musical in New York City, a talented team of writers, musicians and singers have come together to create an album of rock and roll that stands on its own merit.
Presented here are the thirteen songs that will make up the core of the next true rock musical. The story of three girls who have a unique chance to capture the fame and glory that was so elusive in their youth. Isis, Venus and Medusa each have a story to tell. Stories of love, loss, life and most of all, resurrection. It is the story of all of us.
